As wife to one of hip hop’s greatest of all times, Simone has been influenced by the music and the fashion of the culture. In the 80’s, you weren’t saying much if you didn’t have a pair of those big, chunky earrings that everyone rocked. Simone was absolutely smitten with her first pair of ‘door-knocker’ earrings in the 80’s. They were gifted by her then-boyfriend and now-husband, and she has been a self-certified accessories lover ever since. “Smith is poised to transform her life-long affection for accessories into a thriving enterprise, one pair of dangling earrings at a time.” By marrying pop-culture influence with a high-fashion design sensibility, Simone knows her collection will speak to the dynamic women of today.

Simone’s favorite earring is ‘Infinite Love’. With its sideways oval shape, this SIS logo earring named by her husband looks like a heart, butterfly and an infinity sign.  It’s actually also my favorite design and caught my eye immediately thanks to the version with the sparking fabulous diamonds crafted into the design. Everyone is bound to have their fave with earrings, bracelets and bejeweled lollipop pendants to pick from.

 

 

Simone has added more dimension to the collection, by partnering up with The American Cancer Society in celebration of her conquering cancer. In 2004, she endured a life-altering diagnosis of Stage III Chondorosarcoma, which required an invasive surgery, followed by two years of rehab and recovery.

“When I was diagnosed in 2004 it was mind blowing at first. I was thirty four years old and my youngest child was four.  It truly tested my faith but I had to put my trust in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Designing ‘Sweet Touch of Hope’ and teaming up with ACS makes me feel like a champion. We need to find a cure!!!” Ten percent of the sales from the collection “Sweet Touch of Hope” will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Her motto says it all. “God and family first”. Her faith is undeniable as is her love of family. Her beautiful girls are lovingly featured on her website showcasing their mom’s designs. Simone says her “first career is being a wife and a stay-at-home mom, raising our four children. That's my greatest accomplishment. Her second career is her jewelry line Simone I. Smith.”

Pop culture and the music industry has grown and matured so much in the last thirty years and so has Simone. Her full circle moment from door-knocker to the SIS jewelry collection is the perfect intersection of “infinite love”, business, her marriage and high fashion.  Who says you can’t have it all!
